Wu Hua Cha" Instant Tea Beverage
Prosperity Resources Intl. Inc. at 464 Coit Street, Irvington, NJ 07111 recalled "Wu Hua Cha" Instant Tea Beverage because it may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites20run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product. The recalled "Wu Hua Cha" Instant Tea Beverage, a product of China, is packaged in uncoded 7 oz. plastic bags. They were sold nationwide. The recall was initiated after routine sampling by Food and Drug Administration and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in packages of "Wu Hua Cha" Instant Tea Beverage which did not declare sulfites on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
