Cub Cadet 4x4 EFI Volunteer Utility Vehicles
MTD, of Brownsville, Tenn voluntarily recalled about 700 Cub Cadet 4x4 EFI Volunteer Utility Vehicles because excessive heat can cause the wiring harness to melt. This defect can result in a fire h azard to consumers. At the time of the recall, the company reported that it had received five reports of heat damage to the vehicle. The recalled utility vehicle is a four-wheel drive vehicle with "Cub Cadet, Tracker Edition" printed on the side panel. This vehicle has roll over protection and an open cargo bed in the back with "Volunteer" printed on the side. It is equipped with a Kohler electronic fuel-injected engine. The model/serial plate is located under the driver's seat. The products were sold by Cub Cadet dealerships and Bass Pro retail outlets nationwide under the Cub Cadet brand name from March 2008 through April 2008 for between $9,700 and $10,500.
